Making an appointment at Bear Canyon Therapy

9/1/2020

Did you know that you can make an appointment at Bear Canyon Therapy Associates without a referral from your primary care doctor or specialist? This can save time and money plus possibly reduce the need for x-rays or pain medications. We are here to help you with problems like headaches, neck, back, and other joint pain, sports or work injuries and even challenges related to many neurologic conditions. Bear Canyon Therapy Associates can be your first choice, because we will work closely with your PCP or specialist to make sure your unique needs are addressed.

Your health and safety are our top priorities. Bear Canyon is open and treating patients in-person following all the recommended CDC guidelines and COVID-19 safety practices. We have 6+ months experience treating in this “new normal” as we never closed our doors due to COVID. To ensure that we can care for patients who prefer not to come into our clinic, we also offer telemedicine appointments

Some insurance companies need a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner referral for payment, and we are happy to call on your behalf to determine the specific needs of your plan. Please call us at 505-823-2411 with any questions. We also offer private pay options

DON'T DEPEND ON DEPENDS!

You thought you were done buying pads and pantyliners once you hit menopause. Except now you find yourself grabbing a package of Depends or Poise because you leak urine every time you sneeze, cough, or as you rush to the toilet. Whether you birthed your children years ago or are going through this crazy hormonal shift, you think this is just the norm. I want you to know although it may be considered the norm, it is NOT NORMAL!! You should not be fearful of leaking, you should not feel like you need to use the restroom ‘just in case’ to avoid an accident, you should not have to cross your legs as tight as you can every time you need to sneeze. You should know there is HOPE. You should know you can feel the freedom of going out without wearing a pad. You should know you have the ability to regain control of your life. Granted there are instances where surgical intervention may be best (i.e. in the example of a severe pelvic organ prolapse); however conservative treatment through physical therapy can be extremely beneficial and safe. If you have the opportunity to free yourself from the burden of unwanted leakage through simple exercises, why not take it? I would love to meet you and help you find that freedom. If you have any questions at all, please email me at [email protected].

Bear Canyon Therapy Announces New Women's Physical Therapy Program

Jael Clark, Physical Therapist Alb NM
Hi Everyone!

I am thrilled to be a new member of this amazing Bear Canyon Physical Therapy Team, and I am excited to share that I will be spearheading a Women’s Health Program.

I just had my first child about 4 months ago and he is an absolute joy to my husband and me. Going through pregnancy and postpartum is not an easy feat, and I have such a greater appreciation for what the female body goes through – it is truly miraculous. However, it can come with a number challenges: low back pain that worsens as your belly grows and then creeps up between your shoulders as you repeatedly lift and carry your newborn, that postpartum belly that feels like a weak deflated balloon and that large gap between your abs (called diastasis recti), pain in your pelvic region from delivery (whether it was a vaginal or cesarean), embarrassing urine leakage from the added pressure of your growing baby or from tearing during delivery, the list goes on… The good news? These are all treatable conditions! I would love to meet you new moms, pregnant or postpartum, and help you find pain relief and feel comfortable and confident in your own body again. Feel free to bring your little one in to our sessions – trust me I understand there are times when you can’t find a babysitter, don’t want to leave your baby, or are just at their mercy as they demand eating every hour or two.

These examples center around pregnancy, but other issues can also arise at any stage in life for a woman. I will provide a comprehensive evaluation and create a plan of action to address whatever physical limitations you are facing.

Check back to our website periodically for updates and an informational handout. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions!

For those that know me, you know that I am "technologically impaired", so to have a website and an active

The plan for this site is to frequently update and provide information that we hope will be helpful and
informative, and provide a way for you to get to know the Bear Canyon Therapy team.
